L&Q WESTLEY GREEN

a sustainable new community

FOR south & east cambridgeshire

An inspiring vision for a new community.

Westley Green has the potential to be an exciting development that benefits both residents and businesses. The site is being promoted by L&Q Estates and Hill and is located close to Six Mile Bottom. In addition to delivering much needed new homes to the area, there is the opportunity for significant provision of on-site employment to help boost the local economy and create a substantial amount of green space that will be accessible and usable.

The proposals for the site are in the very early stages. We have made a submission to the Greater Cambridgeshire Local Plan Call for Sites. We are committed to ensuring that the councils are kept informed as our plans progress.

We have also begun the process of engaging with stakeholders, which will form part of an extensive consultation process. Local residents will be part of this, with the aim of using feedback to help to shape the plans. This website sketches out some of our initial ideas for the site, but the land that is being put forward is extensive, which means there is a significant amount of flexibility to adapt our plans to any ideas and thoughts that emerge.

Wider consultation for the site will be happening in the near future. If you would like to receive notification of any consultation events, please sign up to receive updates.

Why Westley Green?

This development has the potential to be truly special. In addition to offering strong public transport connections and substantial employment provision, the site is in an identified growth area and would deliver much-needed housing on land outside the green belt.

Creating a new community.

The development of Westley Green will build upon the Garden City principles which were established by Sir Ebenezer Howard as part of the Garden City Movement. They remain relevant and, even today, are upheld as the pinnacle of good place-making by organisations like the Town and Country Planning Association. They form the starting point for our approach, but we have evaluated and re-cast them to provide an appropriate foundation for a modern, sustainable community at Westley Green.
